Poetry Project 2017: Day 123

Barely any family,
no brothers,
no sisters,
no aunts,
one uncle.
2 sets of grandparents,
who you barely see.
A father who is always away.
Your world is small.
Our world is small.
Me and You.
I want to be there for you.
I want you to know who I am,
but I failed:
I forgot.
I cannot be all things,
I cannot remember everything.
Consumed by my own life,
I let you down.
You felt my absence,
you felt my ambivalence.
I’m so sorry.
I am not ambivalent.
I love you more than anything,
even if I don’t show it.
I’ll do better.

Personal Headlines: I missed the observation day at my son’s school because I forgot to write the date on the calendar when the newsletter was sent home.
